A massive 714-mile rain storm is likely to blast several parts of the UK, days after the temperature levels are predicted to soar as high as 35C. WXCharts UK weather maps suggest that areas from Portree in Scotland to Cornwall will be covered under the rain as the mercury levels oscillate between 16 and 17C on July 5.
According to the weather maps, the southern part of the country will experience the heaviest rainfall, with areas around Southampton, London, Cardiff, and Plymouth to be the worst-impacted. In Scotland, parts of Glasgow, Ayr, and Carlisle will see the wettest weather as the maps suggest lightning and thunderstorms during that period. The unsettled weather maps come as Monday (June 30) is likely to be the hottest day of the year with the Met Office predicting temperatures widely exceeding 30C in central and eastern England, possibly reaching 35C in London and towards Cambridge.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast between July 4 and 13 reads: “Residual rain clearing the southeast, if it hasn’t done before this time, with widely fine and much fresher and cooler conditions than of late.
“Perhaps turning wetter and windier in the northwest though, with more unsettled conditions spreading across the UK through the coming weekend.
“Not everywhere will see rain or showers, and there will be some brighter, more shower weather too, particularly on Sunday where there is a risk of thunderstorms.
“Following this, more changeable weather is expected with winds mainly from the west, leading to a typical northwest-southeast split whereby rain and showers are most frequent in the north and west, whilst south and eastern areas are more often dry, bright and warmer.”
It comes as weather maps showed several regions across Britain could see heavy rain when sweltering temperatures break in a matter of days.
