The UK is likely to experience blistering conditions with temperatures staying above 30C on at least five days, weather maps have suggested. Weather forecaster WXCharts’ maps have turned dark red during these five days as the country goes through another spell of sweltering weather.

Temperatures soared to a blistering 33.2C in Charlwood, Surrey, on Saturday afternoon. And if forecasts hold true, the UK could face another wave of intense heat on July 1, with temperatures potentially climbing back up to 34C. Temperatures of at least 30C are currently expected between June 29 and July 1, and then July 6 and 7.

The worst-affected areas between June 29 and July 1 include London, Birmingham, Leeds, Southampton, Manchester, Oxford, Stoke, Cambridge, among others.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between June 27 and July 6 reads: “Weather conditions are expected to be remain changeable through this period, as a series of Atlantic low pressure systems pass to the northwest of the UK.

“These will tend to bring some occasional rain or showers, most frequent in northwestern areas where it may also be rather breezy or windy at times.

“Whilst some rain or showers will be possible across the south and east, here longer drier spells are more likely, under the influence of higher pressure.

“There is also the chance of some occasional very warm weather, as south or southwesterly winds allow brief bursts of hotter air to encroach from the continent, but probably fairly short-lived and perhaps also accompanied by a few thunderstorms at times.”

June 29: Luton -31C

June 30: Birmingham – 32C

July 1: Worcester, Liverpool – 34C

July 6: Norwich – 31C

July 7: Southampton – 31C
