Nigel Farage gives brutal response to Keir Starmer’s ‘biggest mistake’ | Politics | News

Nigel Farage declared that Sir Keir Starmer’s “biggest mistake” was entering politics in a swipe at the Prime Minister. The Reform UK leader made the brutal comment after Sir Keir was asked during an interview for his biggest error during his first year in power.

The Prime Minister said it was his Government not always getting its message across as well as it should. But Mr Farage insisted Sir Keir should never have entered politics in the first place as he claimed he does not believe in anything.

The Clacton MP told Talk: “His biggest mistake was going into politics. Why do I say that? Because actually if you go into politics, you do it because you believe in something.

“You think there’s a course of action that needs to be taken that you think will make the country better.

“This bloke doesn’t believe in a single thing other than the ‘niceness’ of human rights law, international law and the north London set.

“What you’re seeing with his premiership, you’re seeing somebody who wanted to be Prime Minister for the sake of being Prime Minister, not for what he could do with it.”

Sir Keir was asked about his biggest mistake during an interview with Sky News.

He said: “In terms of mistakes I think we haven’t always told our story as well as we should, explained our decisions in the way that might in retrospect have been better but that’s the nature of politics.

“I suppose the story at the end of the first year is this, we had to clear up the mess and the first year was really about that but as we now turn into the second year with the spending review now’s the time we can show that having cleared up that mess, taken those tough but necessary decisions, you can see in the spending review with the investment we’re making in our public services, infrastructure, jobs, apprentices, you name it, you can see the difference a Labour Government makes.”
