The Google Pixel 9 is the latest flagship phone from the tech giant, boasting a refined glass and metal design with distinctive camera bar, replete with two cameras that are among the best on any phone in 2025.
The phone is upgradable to the latest Android 16 software and will receive a total of seven years of software support from its 2024 release, meaning you’ll still be fully up to date and protected until 2031.
The Pixel 9 has solid all-day battery life and is chock full of Google’s Gemini AI features, from photo editing tools to summarisation and live translation. If you don’t fancy any of that, I have found them easy enough to ignore.
If you’re looking to upgrade your Android phone and think the Pixel 9 could be one of the contenders, now is a good time to buy. Google has cut the price of the £799 phone right down to £599. That’s a stellar saving, but the deal ends today, June 17.
A quick look over at Amazon reveals an even better price for the Pixel 9, which is discounted even further down to £504.99, a huge 37 percent saving on the RRP. This special price appears to only be for the obsidian (black) model, though the other three are discounted – just not by quite as much.

This price is listed as a “limited time deal”, so we’re not sure how long the deal will last, but the good news is that it’s open for any shopper, not just Amazon Prime members. Of course, being a Prime subscriber does get you free one day delivery.
The Pixel 9 trumps the iPhone 16 by having a 120Hz smooth scrolling display, whereas the iPhone is stuck on 60Hz. That screen is plenty bright and a decent 6.3-inches is large, but not truly pocket-busting if you are after a slightly dinkier phone.
The main camera is a 50MP main sensor that takes stunningly good photos. Google’s processing on its Pixels is famously good, and they remain among my favourite phones to shoot images with. The 48MP ultra-wide is also decent, though I would miss the telephoto camera – there is not one on this phone. You have to step up to the Pixel 9 Pro to get that, which is currently on sale from Amazon for £699.
Add in IP68 dust and water resistance, a decent fingerprint scanner and wireless charging, the Pixel 9 is a superb all-round phone, especially at £504.99. This deal makes it only a smidge more than the inferior Pixel 9a, which costs £499.
If you want a more customisable Android experience then you might prefer a phone from Samsung, whose latest Galaxy S25 is £799, the same as the iPhone 16 and the Pixel 9’s usual price.
