Who is Pippa Middlehurst?

Pippa Middlehurst, 28, is from Salford.

She is an oncology research biobank assistant and a finalist on Britain’s Best Home Cook.

The aspiring chef learned to cook from her grandmother who made comforting home-cooked meals.

She’s got her own cookery blog Pippy Eats on which she writes, “By day I work in cancer research, by night I am an obsessed Asian food enthusiast.”

Why does Pippa Middlehurst like cooking Asian dishes?

Pippa’s grandfather used to take her to a Dim Sum restaurant with an Asian supermarket underneath which she would explore.

On her blog she writes, “I used to love trying all the new and exciting things – my brother really hated the egg drop soup, but I loved all the unusual textures.

“Underneath the restaurant was an Asian supermarket, full of strange and alien ingredients- this is where my obsession with Asian cooking began.”

So far she has impressed the judges with cooking, especially her spicy pan-fried red gurnard which Mary Berry described as a “delightful dish”.
