DAN Doherty is the top chef at restaurant Duck and Waffle and has been named as one of the stars on new BBC show Britain’s Best Home Cook.
He will be joining Mary Berry and Chris Bavin on the judging panel for the TV competition, which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman.

Who is Dan Doherty and how did he make his name?
Dan is currently Chef Director at London’s Duck and Waffle restaurant which sits at the top of the Heron Tower.
He opened the restaurant, while in the role of Executive Chef, on the 40th floor of the building in 2012.
Since then he has received a number of awards and accolades, including the title of “Rising Star Chef,” in the 2013 Tatler Restaurant Awards, and in 2014 he was named one of London’s “1000 Most Influential People” in the Tastemaker category by the London Evening Standard.
Born and raised in Shrewsbury, he then began his career at The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts as an apprentice with London’s Michelin-starred 1 Lombard Street, before working as Head Chef at The Old Brewery.

What will he be doing on Britain’s Best Cook?
Dan will be judging contestants on the new show alongside Mary Berry and Chris Bavin.
Of the new show he said: “Right now British cuisine is more exciting and diverse than ever – we’re a nation of home cooks with different influences and hidden talents.
“In the competition I’m looking to discover which of our competing cooks has the technical ability and creative skill to deliver inspiring and inventive dishes.
“It’s a pleasure to be judging alongside Mary and Chris, and I can’t wait to taste what our cooks come up with.”
