Arteta knows his best chance of landing high-profile players is to work shrewdly and is prepared to offer swap deals and land season-long loan deals.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are preparing to offer Guendouzi across Europe to gauge whether there are any potential suitors.
The hotheaded 21-year-old has been dropped for the last two games following his antics in the 2-1 defeat against Brighton.
Guendouzi grabbed Neal Maupay by the neck and also reportedly bragged about his wages to a number of Brighton stars.
Now Arteta is prepared to cut his losses and will look towards Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey as a potential swap deal.
The midfield enforcer is at the top of Arteta’s shortlist as he looks to add steel in the middle of the park.
Both Partey and Guendouzi are valued at around £44m, making it an intriguing prospect for all parties involved.
