God of War 2018 – what’s the game about?
God of War is an acclaimed hack-and-slash video game franchise from Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.
The 2018 entry to the series is simply called God of War, and lands as the eighth instalment overall.
It’s a direct sequel to 2010’s God of War III, and is generally seen as a soft reboot for the franchise.
Sony The first official trailer is fairly zen, but the actual game will be chock full of violence
What’s exciting about God of War 4 is that it moves on from its traditional Greek mythology into a new Norse setting.
Series protagonist Kratos is staying on as the protagonist, although he’s also got a son called Atreus in this game too.
The game picks up years after Kratos sought his revenge against the Olympian gods. Kratos now lives in a savage land inhabited by Norse gods, and is attempting to teach his son how to survive and thrive in a dangerous world.

In April, God of War director Cory Barlog revealed it took a Santa Monica Games designer 43 hours to get 100% completion on the game.
According to the How Long to Beat game length tracker, the original 2005 God of War game took just 12.5 hours to complete.
God of War has a slightly longer 13-hour completion time, while God of War 3 was the biggest to date, taking 17 hours to finish.
So it’s good news – you’ll be getting more bang for your buck from the latest game than any God of War title before.
