For it to have a beneficial effect you will need to have about 3mg per kg of body weight.

With UK coffee week starting tomorrow, we take a look at some caffeine fixes.

And test out beauty balms for different budgets.

Powder – Myprotein Caffeine Powder

(£4.99 for 30 sachets, myprotein.com)

These are great because they are very convenient, with 200mg caffeine per serving – simply pour the powder into a drink before training.

They are supposed to be tasteless but it is pretty bad – add it to juice, not water, to try to mask it.

Water – VoltWater

(from £1 a bottle, voltwater.co.uk)

A great new product because the caffeine is already combined with natural spring water – meaning it is perfect to grab and go.

And, of course, it is calorie-free.

This has a slight aftertaste, but not an unpleasant one.

There is 200mg of caffeine per 500ml bottle. Will definitely use this again.

Flavoured – Superhero

(£30.24 for 30 servings, uk.scitecnutrition.com)

A pre-workout powder in cola-lime or mango-lime flavours that you mix with 350ml of water.

It doesn’t taste too bad but has a terrifying 300mg of caffeine per portion. I’d be cautious with it.

You can now get your own selfie printed on a cup of coffee
