EMMERDALE fans were left devastated during Thursday night’s first episode as Chas Dingle finally told fiancé Paddy Kirk their baby won’t survive.
During a previous emotional episode Chas was told her baby had development issues during her scan.

The unborn child has bilateral renal agenesis, a rare condition that means the kidneys had failed to develop.
She was also told the child’s lungs could also fail to grow and there is no cure that will enable the baby to live.
Chas was previously unable to tell Paddy about the baby as she was so upset and he was so excited about becoming a father.
But tonight, she slipped away from her baby shower and when he later followed, she told him the truth.
Paddy gave Chas his own baby blanket at the baby shower so they could use it for their baby
Paddy had given her his own baby blanket from when he was younger so they could use it for their newborn.
And Chas gripped it and burst into tears as she stood upstairs over the baby’s cot.
When Paddy came to find her, finally unable to keep the sad news in any longer, she said: “Our baby, this beautiful little girl we’ve made, we might not get to keep her.
Paddy was looking forward to becoming a father and Chas had not told him the sad news

Paddy looked on in stunned disbelief as the show ended, leaving viewers in tears.

However, a hospital consultant had earlier told her: “We should be able to see baby’s kidneys showing at this stage. Unfortunately they and the bladder have failed to develop.
“Unfortunately when both kidneys are absent like this, there is a lack of amniotic fluid which leads to the lungs failing to develop properly.
“We’ll arrange more scans, but if this is confirmed, I’m afraid there’s no cure. Without fully developed lungs, your baby cannot survive.”
